Where does the money in your energy bill actually go?
Not to the phone charger. Almost all of it goes to making heat or moving heat. Rates are climbing about 5% a year, so it’s worth knowing which few things matter and which don’t. This tour shows you, using your home, not an average one.

Why En Dash made this
We spend our days helping teams see where their effort really goes so they can stop wasting it. An energy bill is the same problem at home: a single number hiding a dozen decisions, most of which don’t matter and a few of which matter a lot. This is our small, free contribution to making one more thing feel a little better.
Bills are also our day job. We rebuilt a federal invoice processing platform from the ground up — OCR to read the documents, automation for the half of them that were being keyed in by hand, and a system-of-record migration with no downtime — so the people doing the reading could stop fighting the software. Read that case study. If your organisation has billing data it cannot see into, that is the work we do for money.
